Desert Hills is generally considered the area North and South of Carefree Highway from the I-17 to Cave Creek Rd in the East. People love the area because of its location and rural lifestyle, but yet close enough to Phoenix and other amenities.
The land in generally pretty flat for building homes and there is lots of room for all your toys including motorhomes, boats, etc. The real estate in the area is hot just like areas of Phoenix. But the value you get is very good considering the smallest lot size in about 1 acre. Types of homes can vary from mobile homes to large ranches and from small homes to large custom homes.
A person living in Desert Hills can quickly travel west to I-17 and be in North Phoenix in a short order to enjoy the amenities there. Or go east to Cave Creek and enjoy the unique dining and shops.
The amenities in Desert Hills are pretty limited but there are several restaurants and a small handful of other stores. The wells in Desert Hills are fairly decent and hauled water is always an option. There are several hiking trails and trailheads in the area as well as areas to ride recreational vehicles such as atvs, dirtbikes, etc. Horseback riding is also very popular in Desert Hills.
There are several Charter Schools and one Elementary School in the area. The High School is located in Anthem which is not far away. Desert Hills is a great place to live and raise a family.
